  1. Very cool. I’ve used willow leaves for headaches. Take 2 or 3 leaves, chew them, swallow all the juice, then spit out the fiber leftovers. It really works! I also use dried Golden Rod stalks for hand drill spindles. Light downward pressure and as much speed as you can get…the coal forms in the pith of the spindle and can be transferred to some punk wood or other coal extender. Cheers, Doc!

    • Hmm…The coal forms in the pith? Are you giving a place for the dust to collect on the fireboard? It just seems like the coal will be really small hence the need for the coal extender if it forms in the pith. I usually make a notch for it in the fireboard though I admit to being terrible at hand drill.
